Bucks County Playhouse presents: Brothers On The Battlefield

New HopePA
Bucks County Playhouse

“Brothers on the Battlefield” is a theatrically-staged production including a historically-informed narrative and a multimedia presentation in honor of the end of the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. Six virtuoso brass musicians, New Hope's own JaQuinley Kerr, and a pianist perform a broad range of music from the Civil War through the Civil Rights Movement.

The concert is tied together through narration which includes dramatic readings from Civil War letters and inspirational readings from the works of Dr. Maya Angelou, interspersed with breathtaking multimedia depicting imagery. Repertoire includes influential American music spanning pre-Civil War through the years following the Civil Rights Movement

Well known works such as “When the Saints Go Marching In,” the beloved “West Side Story” (Leonard Bernstein), memorable tunes like “Ashokan Farewell” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” and the toe tapping John Philip Sousa march “Stars and Stripes Forever” will make for a fun-filled memorable evening.

The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass is widely considered to be one of the world’s leading brass ensembles. Always striving to reflect the diverse makeup of men and women in American culture, the group is especially dedicated to reaching out to the world’s youth and inspiring them to reach for their dreams.
